Man Utd's Benjamin Sesko Faces Month-Long Layoff After Knee Injury

Manchester United striker Benjamin Šeško is expected to spend around one month on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury. The 22-year-old Slovenian forward was hurt during United’s 2–2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on November 8, just before the international break. Šeško, who arrived from RB Leipzig in August for £74 million, came on as a second-half substitute but was unable to complete the match.

Head coach Ruben Amorim initially expressed uncertainty about the severity of the injury, though club sources downplayed fears of a long-term issue. Despite this reassurance, Šeško was ruled out of Slovenia’s World Cup qualifying fixtures. Early estimates indicate a recovery period of about four weeks, but official confirmation is still awaited.

Amorim is expected to provide a detailed update during his press briefing this week ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Everton at Old Trafford. The fixture is scheduled for Monday at 20:00 GMT. Šeško’s absence may slightly overlap with the departure of forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, who are set to join their national teams for the Africa Cup of Nations, beginning December 21 in Morocco.

As the tournament approaches, Premier League clubs—including Manchester United are not expected to release players earlier than required. This means United should still have a full squad available for their home match against Bournemouth on December 15. Since joining the club, Šeško has scored two goals in 12 appearances.
