Major Australian Music Festival Park Waves Canceled by Parkway Drive for 2026

Parkway Drive's highly anticipated Park Waves Festival, intended to be the band's first-ever touring festival across Australia, has been officially cancelled. Organisers Destroy All Lines publicly confirmed the cancellation through social media, explaining that the financial viability and logistical demands of the ambitious tour "no longer stack up." The statement expressed profound disappointment, citing a combination of challenges that ultimately led to the difficult decision, despite all efforts to proceed.
Scheduled for February and March 2026, the festival had an extensive itinerary, including stops in major cities like Perth, Adelaide, Geelong, and Sydney, as well as regional locations such as Bendigo, Wollongong, Maitland, Toowoomba, Byron Bay, and Sandstone Point. All ticket holders will be automatically issued refunds, with additional specific details to be communicated directly via email from the organisers.
In a separate message posted on their own platforms, Parkway Drive conveyed their deep regret, describing the cancellation as "a kick in the guts." The band explicitly pointed to the increasingly challenging environment for major touring events within Australia, lamenting that their festival was "another casualty in this chapter of the Australian music scene" due to the escalating costs across the entertainment industry. They affirmed that every possible avenue was explored to keep the festival alive, but the prevailing circumstances made it impossible.
The Park Waves concept originally debuted in Germany in 2024, where Parkway Drive successfully headlined alongside other acts like Fit for a King and Thy Art Is Murder. The Australian edition was designed to replicate this model domestically, with a particular emphasis on reaching regional audiences who frequently miss out on large-scale, arena-level tours. Vocalist Winston McCall had previously shared with Rolling Stone AU/NZ that this concept had been years in development, stressing the importance of playing regional shows and noting that their planned Byron Bay performance would have been their first in 12 years due to venue limitations in such areas.
This cancellation occurs following a period of significant milestones for Parkway Drive, which included a critically acclaimed and career-defining performance at the Sydney Opera House in 2023, and the release of their single "Sacred"—their first new music since 2022's "Darker Still." The Park Waves Festival was expected to be the band’s primary domestic live engagement for 2026. Destroy All Lines concluded their statement by thanking the fans who purchased tickets and continue to support Australian live music during what remains a turbulent period for both promoters and touring artists.
