Lil Wayne has issued an apology to his fans in Maine following his unexpected no-show at the scheduled kick-off of his "20+ Years of Carter Classics North American tour" on Tuesday, June 30. Taking to his Instagram Story on Wednesday, July 1, the rapper expressed his regret, stating, "My Maine fans I’m so sorry." He confirmed that the concert, which was meant to take place at the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor, is being rescheduled for July 28. Wayne advised ticket holders to retain their tickets, as they will be honored for the new date, with more information to be directly emailed to them.
Despite his apology, Lil Wayne did not provide a specific reason for his inability to perform that night. However, he emphasized his profound appreciation for his fans, assuring them he would make amends. "I ain’t s--t without you," he wrote, adding, "I can’t wait to come back and give you the show you deserve."
According to local station WABI, concertgoers experienced a significant delay after the opening act, 2 Chainz, completed his set. It was only around 11 p.m. that attendees were informed that Lil Wayne, 43, would not be appearing on stage. This news left many fans, some of whom had traveled considerable distances, feeling upset and disappointed. One fan, Rita Sack, who had driven over six hours from Nova Scotia for the concert, expressed her frustration, highlighting the value of people's time and the missed moment. She suggested that a brief apology from Wayne in person would have been appreciated.
At the time of the report, a spokesperson for Lil Wayne had not responded to Billboard's request for comment regarding the missed performance. The tour is slated to continue with its next stop at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Thursday night, July 2.
