Speculation is mounting regarding Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham's potential bid for the Labour party leadership, amidst reports of Health Secretary Wes Streeting preparing a challenge against Sir Keir Starmer. Despite Burnham being considered a popular candidate, his path to becoming party leader and Prime Minister is complicated by his current status as a non-MP. Recent sightings of Burnham in London intensified rumors, but two Manchester MPs, Afzal Khan (Rusholme) and Jeff Smith (Withington), have explicitly denied any plans to step aside to allow Burnham to contest their seats.
