Kwara Shocker: Man Nabbed Over Brutal Murder, Dismemberment of Pregnant Sister-in-Law

A tragic and gruesome incident has rocked the Temidire community in Ilorin, Kwara State, following the discovery of the dismembered body of a 39-year-old pregnant woman, Mrs. Esther Enemo, on Thursday, August 21. The Kwara State Police Command officially confirmed the development on Saturday, August 23, initiating a full-scale investigation into the horrific crime.
Police officers responded to a distress call around 9:00 a.m. on the day of the discovery, prompted by a resident’s report of suspicious activity at the residence of Mr. Ekene Enemo, the victim's husband. Upon arrival, detectives located Mrs. Enemo's mutilated body in a bush behind her home. A subsequent search uncovered additional body parts, which had been concealed in a sack and dumped beneath a nearby community bridge. Reports also indicated that her head was still missing at the time of the initial press statements.
A primary suspect, 29-year-old Mr. Sylvester Enemo, who is the victim’s younger brother-in-law, was arrested in connection with the crime. Eyewitnesses reportedly saw Sylvester leaving the house shortly before the discovery, carrying a black nylon bag that was dripping with blood. A trail from this bag allegedly led directly to the scene where the mutilated body was found. The victim's husband, Mr. Ekene Enemo, a trader in agricultural chemicals based in a border town, has also been contacted by the police for further questioning and clarification.
Community members revealed that Mrs. Enemo had been alone at home the night before her murder and was last seen purchasing bottles of beer and plates of pepper soup, actions that suggested she might have been expecting someone. The couple had reportedly moved to the area recently. The brutal killing immediately ignited fears of ritual motives and heightened ethnic suspicions among the multi-tribal residents of Temidire.
Commissioner of Police for Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter, vowing that no stone would be left unturned to ensure justice is served. The remains of the deceased have been evacuated and deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) morgue for autopsy. The Police Command has appealed to the public to maintain calm, avoid speculations that could incite fear or tension, and cooperate by providing any useful information. They also reassured citizens that adequate security strategies have been reinforced across the state to safeguard lives and property.
