This landmark event is anticipated to welcome over 10,000 delegates from 40 countries globally, marking its largest attendance yet. The expo will bring together more than 400 exhibitors and over 250 quality-vetted international buyers, solidifying its position as East Africa's premier travel trade gathering and a pivotal engine for Kenya's ambitious goal of achieving 5 million international arrivals by the end of 2027.
The projected attendance for MKTE 2026 signifies a substantial increase of approximately 30 percent from the 7,691 delegates recorded at MKTE 2025, underscoring the growing confidence within the global travel trade community in Kenya's tourism proposition. During the launch of the 2026 edition in Nairobi, Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) CEO June Chepkemei emphasized Kenya's commitment to leading Africa's tourism transformation, leveraging data, technology, and strategic trade partnerships.
Chepkemei highlighted that every aspect of the MKTE programme, from buyer selection to the seminar agenda, is meticulously informed by data and consumer demand intelligence. This data-driven approach aims to effectively convert visitor interest into actual arrivals, with marketing campaigns, both domestic and international, built on robust evidence. MKTE serves as the crucial platform where these insights are brought to life for partners, with Chepkemei further attributing the expo's enduring success to the strength of the public-private partnership model, a core enabler of Kenya's tourism sector growth.
The three-day fair will be held under the timely theme of “Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence: Shaping the Future of Tourism,” a theme that aligns with the global focus of World Tourism Day 2026. MKTE 2026 is designed to serve as the primary platform for government entities, industry stakeholders, tourism boards, and technology partners to collectively shape the next phase of Kenya's tourism expansion, driven by data, digital innovation, and inclusive opportunities.
Furthermore, the expo will offer a dedicated forum to explore how advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data analytics, immersive technologies, digital payments, and smart destination tools can accelerate tourism transformation not only in Kenya but across the African continent. This focus on technological advancement is central to enhancing Kenya's competitive edge in the global tourism landscape.
A significant highlight of MKTE 2026 will be its spotlight on Kenya's Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, which is increasingly becoming a vital pillar of the country's tourism growth strategy. The expo will feature substantial programming dedicated to MICE, with the Kenya MICE Club, comprising key private sector players and government representatives, playing a central role in anchoring discussions and showcasing Kenya's competitive offerings as a world-class meetings destination.
