J.Lo Hails Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Takeover! Promises Mind-Blowing Spectacle

Jennifer Lopez recently shared her enthusiasm for Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny headlining the 2026 Super Bowl 60 halftime show. During an appearance on the Today Show, where she was promoting her upcoming movie musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, Lopez recalled Bad Bunny's special guest appearance in 2020 when she and Shakira performed in Miami, describing it as an “amazing time” and a “cultural moment” they created together. Lopez confidently predicted that Bad Bunny is “about to blow everybody’s minds,” suggesting that his performance will introduce him to many in America who may not yet be familiar with his extensive worldwide fame.
Addressing the notion of controversy regarding a Latin artist headlining the Super Bowl halftime show, Lopez stated she was unaware of any such flap. She questioned the reasoning behind any pushback, emphasizing Bad Bunny's status as “one of the top artists in the world right now, probably the top.” Lopez expressed her immense excitement for non-fans to witness his capabilities, noting, “His music transcends language. It’s amazing what he’s done… He puts on a great show. He’s a great entertainer.”
Beyond the Super Bowl discussion, Lopez also delved into her new film, Kiss of the Spider Woman. While she began her movie career with the 1997 musical biography Selena, she clarified that this new project marks her first “proper” movie musical where she fully showcases her triple-threat talents in singing, acting, and dancing. Lopez described the role as a “dream come true,” highlighting how it fulfilled childhood aspirations of playing a Hollywood movie star and checked many items off her personal bucket list.
Co-host Craig Melvin also brought up the personal timing of the film's production, noting that Lopez filmed it amidst her divorce from Ben Affleck, who also served as an executive producer. Lopez graciously acknowledged Affleck’s crucial role, stating, “If it wasn’t for Ben the movie would not have got made.” She reflected on the film's theme of escapism and how art can be a savior during difficult times, explaining that working on Kiss of the Spider Woman was instrumental in helping her “survive a moment that was difficult in my personal life as well.”
