Indiana Sports Teams Donate $250,000 to Flood Relief
Indianapolis' professional sports teams, including the Colts and Pacers, have collectively donated $250,000 to the American Red Cross for flood relief efforts in Indiana. This comes as the state faces its worst flooding in decades, leading to fatalities and widespread displacement. The initiative highlights a strong partnership among the teams to support the community.
The Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, Indiana Fever and Noblesville Boom have joined forces to donate $250,000 to flood relief efforts in Central Indiana.
The money will go to the American Red Cross, which is providing shelter, food, supplies and other assistance to people affected by the flooding. The donation was announced Sunday ahead of a Colts training camp practice at Grand Park Sports Complex.
The Colts contributed $125,000, while the Pacers, Fever and Boom provided the remaining $125,000 collectively.
Flooding leaves at least seven dead
The donation comes as Indiana deals with some of its worst flooding in decades.
At least seven people have died in weather-related incidents across the state, while hundreds of residents have been evacuated from affected areas. The White River reached record levels in parts of Central Indiana, causing flooding around Indianapolis and surrounding communities.
The American Red Cross has been assisting affected residents with emergency supplies and other services as recovery efforts continue.
The sports organisations have previously worked together on community initiatives, but this response comes as local authorities continue assessing the damage from the storms and flooding.
