IGP Egbetokun Appoints CSP Benjamin Hundeyin as New Police Spokesperson

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has officially appointed Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO). This significant announcement was made by the outgoing FPRO, Deputy Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi, through a statement and a post on the Nigerian Police Force’s official X page.
Mr. Hundeyin's appointment comes as he transitions from his role as the spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, a position he held since March 2022. He succeeds Mr. Adejobi, who has been redeployed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations in Delta State. Mr. Adejobi's tenure as Force PRO, which began in 2022 and lasted approximately three and a half years, was marked by various controversies, including notable clashes with the civil society community and remarks that reportedly justified some unlawful arrests of activists by the police.
