Horror in Nigeria: Bandits Abduct Seven Family Members in Kaduna
In a distressing incident in Kaduna State, ten individuals, including seven members of a single family, were abducted by bandits in Unguwar Sabon-Titi, located along Katari -Hayin Dam in the Kachia Local Government Area. The abduction, which occurred on Thursday night around 9:32 pm, was confirmed by Mr. Markus Yakubu, a resident of Katari, who spoke to reporters on Friday morning.
According to Mr. Yakubu, a significant number of bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, strategically invaded a compound. They quietly whisked away seven family members before proceeding to a neighboring house where they abducted three additional residents. The victims from the family were identified as Jummai Amos, Barnabas Amos, Iko Amos, Baby Amos, Eunice Amos, Eshiwan Amos, and Godwin Amos. The three other residents abducted were named as Bagudu Damisa, Evelyn Damisa, and Alfred Iriyo.
A peculiar aspect of the operation was the bandits' initial silence. Mr. Yakubu explained that the assailants refrained from firing shots while within the town, a tactic believed to be due to the close proximity of the invaded houses to the Katari Divisional Police Officer's (DPO) residence. "The bandits came in a large number and surrounded my neighbor's house before some of them entered the compound and whisked away people, who are all members of one family. They later proceeded to the next house and carried three people," he recounted. He further added, "Actually, the house of the DPO of Katari is close to the house the bandits attacked, which I believe is why they didn't shoot in order not to attract his attention." However, once the victims were moved out of the town, the bandits reportedly began discharging their firearms.
The latest abduction was also corroborated by an anonymous community leader who received a distress call about the attack. The leader attempted to contact security operatives in the area immediately upon receiving the information but reported that their phone numbers were unreachable. "The very moment I received the call that bandits had invaded two houses at Unguwar Sabon-Titi, I quickly tried to reach out to security operatives but their numbers are not connecting," he stated.
Following the incident, neighbors were seen flocking to the victims' houses on Friday morning to offer sympathy to the affected families. Meanwhile, a security source from the area confirmed the abduction, stating that security operatives had commenced combing the forest in an effort to locate the bandits and ensure the safe rescue of the victims. Efforts to get a statement from the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Hassan Mansur, were unsuccessful, as he neither answered calls nor responded to text messages regarding the incident.
