Horror Crash in Bolton: Six Injured, Car Engulfed in Flames

A serious road traffic collision occurred on Moss Bank Way in Bolton on Friday night, August 7, involving two cars. The incident led to six people being hospitalized, with one vehicle catching fire and a casualty requiring extraction using specialist equipment. Emergency services, including the Police, Fire, and Paramedics, were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed the arrest of a man in his 30s on suspicion of drink driving, who remains in custody. While injuries were sustained by the casualties, police stated that these were not considered 'life-changing'.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) provided further details regarding their response. Shortly after 9:33 PM on August 7, two fire engines from Bolton Central and Bolton North fire stations, along with an enhanced rescue unit from Leigh fire station, responded to the reports. Firefighters quickly arrived and used a hose reel to extinguish the car fire. They also employed specialist equipment to free one person trapped within a vehicle.
GMFRS crews, in collaboration with the North West Ambulance Service, provided trauma care and first aid to all six casualties before they were transported to hospital. Firefighters worked with Greater Manchester Police to ensure the area was made safe, remaining at the scene for approximately one hour and 45 minutes.
