Sultan Declares Ramadan to Begin Wednesday Across Nigeria
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar CFR, officially announced that Ramadan 1447AH will commence on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, following confirmed crescent moon sightings across Nigeria.
The Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, led by Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, relayed the Sultan’s message of Allah’s guidance and blessings to the Muslim Ummah for the holy month.
His Eminence encouraged Muslims nationwide to dedicate prayers for peace, national development, and solutions to ongoing security challenges affecting the country.
The Sultan concluded by wishing all Muslims a blessed Ramadan Kareem and prayed for the acceptance of religious deeds and sincere devotion throughout the month.
