Hollywood Icon John Travolta Steps Behind Camera for Apple TV Directorial Debut

John Travolta, a legendary actor with a career spanning decades, is set to achieve a major career first: his directorial debut. This new milestone comes with an Apple-backed project titled "Propeller One-Way Night Coach," which will have its world premiere at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival in May. Following its festival run, the film is scheduled for a global launch on Apple TV on May 29.
"Propeller One-Way Night Coach" has been selected for Cannes’ Premiere Selection and will be screened at the Debussy Theater at the Palais des Festivals, with Travolta expected to be in attendance for this significant event. The film features a main cast including Clark Shotwell as Jeff, Kelly Eviston-Quinnett as Jeff’s mother, and also stars Ella Bleu Travolta and Olga Hoffmann as charming flight attendants.
The production of the film is a collaborative effort between Travolta’s JTP Films Inc. and Kids at Play, with John Travolta himself serving as a producer alongside Jason Berger and Amy Laslett. The official synopsis describes a heartwarming journey: "Young airplane enthusiast Jeff, played by newcomer Clark Shotwell, and his mother, Kelly Eviston-Quinnett, set off on a one-way cross country odyssey to Hollywood, which transforms a simple flight into the trip of a lifetime. Between airline meals, charming flight attendants, unexpected stopovers, larger-than-life passengers, and a thrilling glimpse at first class, the journey unfolds in moments both magical and unexpected, charting the course for the boy’s future."
This project holds special significance for Travolta, particularly given his renowned passion for aviation. The actor has been flying since the age of 15 and holds certifications to pilot multiple large aircraft, including Boeing 707s, 737s, and 747s. He even served as a commercial pilot for the Australian airline Qantas, accumulating thousands of flight hours. The story itself is inspired by a 1997 children’s book of the same title that Travolta wrote for his son, Jett, who tragically passed away after a long battle with illness. "Propeller One-Way Night Coach" will be available globally on Apple TV starting May 29.
