High Stakes Legal Battle: Garacci Challenges APC Disqualification in Zamfara Court

Hon. Sanusi Ibrahim Garacci, an All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant for Zamfara Central, has firmly declared his intention to pursue legal action against the party. He insists on remaining in the race for the 2027 election, alleging a wrongful disqualification orchestrated by APC structures.

Garacci openly accused the APC national headquarters of disqualifying him over claims of non-payment of party dues, a contention he vehemently denies as false. He asserts that he has fulfilled all required financial obligations to the party and possesses irrefutable documentary evidence to substantiate his claim. “I have every document for the payment of my party dues, but I observed that the committee, either from the state or national headquarters, has removed some of my critical documents just to blacklist me,” Garacci stated, highlighting what he perceives as a deliberate act of sabotage.

The aspirant views the alleged removal of his crucial documents as a calculated attempt to sideline him from the contest, particularly ahead of the party’s primaries. Despite these grave allegations, Garacci did not specify which particular committee or officials within the APC were responsible for the alleged manipulation of his papers.

In response to the unfolding situation, Garacci has urged his supporters to maintain calm and assured them that all necessary steps are being taken to seek appropriate redress through legal channels. This development follows weeks after APC stakeholders in Zamfara endorsed a consensus arrangement, which effectively backs incumbent National Assembly members to seek re-election in 2027. Garacci had previously rejected this arrangement, labeling it as undemocratic and a tactic designed to marginalize other aspirants.

As of now, the All Progressives Congress has not issued any public statement in response to Garacci’s serious allegations. The party’s national leadership is anticipated to review and ratify the candidate lists submitted by its various state chapters in the period leading up to the primaries, with Garacci’s case likely to add a layer of complexity to this process.
