Harry Styles' Epic SNL Takeover: Ryan Gosling Cameo, Wild Sketches, and Unforgettable Moments!

Harry Styles graced Saturday Night Live on March 14, pulling double duty as both host and musical guest to deliver a multifaceted and entertaining episode. During his appearance, Styles engaged in several memorable sketches and performed tracks from his latest album, solidifying his status as a versatile pop superstar.
One of the evening's comedic highlights was the live sketch titled “Harry for Him.” In this bit, Styles partnered with Target to pitch a fictional men’s fashion line designed to bring his bold, confident style to the “ordinary man.” Styles introduced the line by stating, “For years I’ve been turning heads with my bold, confident style, and I’ve been approached by countless women who say, ‘My husband’s look is so boring. I wish he dressed more like you.’ Well now, he can.” He then claimed, “I’ve partnered with Target to recreate some of my extraordinary looks for the ordinary man — at a price he can afford. Harry for Him, by Harry Styles. I pulled these looks off, now you can too.” The sketch featured SNL cast members Ben Marshall, James Austin Johnson, Andrew Dismukes, Mikey Day, Kam Patterson, Marcello Hernández, and Kenan Thompson modeling some of Styles’ most outrageous outfits. The humor stemmed from the stark contrast between Styles effortlessly wearing these daring ensembles and the everyday guys struggling to pull them off. For instance, Ben Marshall, visibly uncomfortable in Styles’ checkered rainbow jumpsuit from the 2023 Grammy Awards, admitted, “When you see me in a side-by-side with Harry, the answer is definitely no.” James Austin Johnson, wearing Styles’ 2019 Met Gala sheer lace top, recounted his wife’s differing reactions: she praised Styles’ “elegant masculinity” but said Johnson looked like “a serial killer who’s wearing the clothes of a woman he killed.” Similarly, Andrew Dismukes’ sequin outfit, which received glowing reviews when Styles wore it at Coachella, garnered mixed reviews when Dismukes wore it to his son’s basketball game. Other iconic outfits, such as the Wizard of Oz-themed Dorothy costume, also made an appearance.
Styles further showcased his comedic timing in a pre-recorded St. Patrick’s Day–themed sketch titled “She’s an Irish Dancer.” The sketch opened with Styles smoothly crooning about partying in the VIP section with girls who claimed to be dancers, implying a particular type of performance. However, the scene took a hilarious turn when one of the ladies, played by Chloe Fineman, revealed she was an Irish dancer, breaking into an over-the-top, Riverdance-style routine complete with traditional costumes. Styles, initially surprised, eventually had to “match their freak,” donning a puffy white shirt and black headband to declare, “I’m about to go Lord of the Dance up in here,” before joining his friends in an elaborate Irish-inspired dance routine against a starry backdrop. The sketch concluded with Styles wishing viewers a “Happy St. Paddy’s Day.”
In addition to his sketch performances, Styles presented two musical performances from his fourth studio album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.,” which had arrived on March 6. Following a hilarious opening monologue where he reflected on his time away from music, he launched into the groovy, disco-leaning track “Dance No More,” fittingly introduced by actor Ryan Gosling. For his second performance, Styles shifted gears, slowing things down to perform the yearning ballad “Coming Up Roses” at the piano. This performance, introduced by legendary singer-songwriter Paul Simon, featured a sweeping string arrangement originally conducted by Grammy-winning arranger Jules Buckley, with Styles dressed in a sleek blue suit and pink tie. The album “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.” was previewed by its first two singles, “Aperture” and “American Girls,” and follows his critically acclaimed 2022 album, “Harry’s House,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and won Album of the Year at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. This marked Styles' second time pulling double duty as host and musical guest on SNL, building on his previous four appearances as a performer, three with One Direction and one solo in 2017.
