Grindstone Unleashes $31M Fund to Ignite African Startup Scene!

South Africa's Grindstone Ventures has officially launched a new R500 million ($31 million) fund, specifically designed to inject capital into technology companies ranging from the seed stage through Series A. This significant initiative, led by Thandiwe Maqetuka and bolstered by the support of Knife Capital and Thinkroom, is currently targeting a first close of R150 million.

Grindstone Ventures aims to provide more than just financial backing; it will also offer comprehensive support in critical areas such as governance, sales strategy, fundraising efforts, and meticulous preparation for eventual exits. The fund is particularly focused on companies that have already demonstrated revenue generation but require further capital to mature and attract participation from larger institutional investors.

Grindstone has also confirmed that its first fund is on the cusp of completing a crucial exit, which is set to return capital to its investors.
