Gospel Icon Sandi Patty Slams Trump's Racist Remarks in Fiery Truth Social Response

Gospel Music Legend Sandi Patty has publicly addressed a controversial video featuring a Racist Animation of Former President Barack Obama and Former First Lady Michelle Obama, which was briefly posted and then deleted from President Donald Trump’s Truth Social account.
In a heartfelt Instagram video, Patty, who identifies as a follower of Jesus, a registered Republican, and a proud American, shared her thoughts after careful consideration.
“Mr. President, the video on Truth Social was inexcusable,” Patty declared, directing her comments to Trump.
She firmly stated, “You owe America, especially Black America, an apology.”
While grateful that the video was removed, Patty emphasized that its removal was “not enough,” explaining that “Anyone in the free world, let alone the not free world, knows that the images on that video is the pinnacle of a racial insult.”
Patty further asserted that “There is no explaining it away. There’s no offloading it to a low-level staff member. The buck stops with you, sir.”
She underscored the personal impact, noting, “My son needs you to do better. My son is a man of color, the millions of people of color in our country need you to do better. Mr. President, we need you to set the example and we need you to do the right thing.”
Sandi Patty is a highly acclaimed figure in Contemporary Christian music, renowned for songs like “More Than Wonderful” and “Forever Friends.”
Her illustrious career includes 17 top 10 projects on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart, four of which reached the No. 1 spot.
She is also a five-time Grammy winner, recognized for her work including “Morning Like This” and the classic 1990 album “Another Time…Another Place.”
Patty’s powerful video resonated deeply within the entertainment community, drawing widespread support from numerous artists and entertainers.
Sheryl Crow commented, expressing admiration for Patty’s voice and thanking her “for using your voice to speak truth.”
Gospel Legends CeCe Winans, BeBe Winans, and Yolanda Adams also offered their support, with CeCe commenting “Thank you!!” and BeBe saying “Love you, always have and always will.”
Adams added, “Always and forever friend.” Christian Artist Ellie Holcomb expressed, “Couldn’t love you more than I do,” and “Couldn’t agree more,” while singer and Comedian Mark Lowry simply stated, “Love you Sandi.”
Actress Kristin Chenoweth responded with a concise, “Amen.”
According to ABC News, President Trump addressed the video with reporters on Friday (Feb. 6). He claimed to have only viewed the initial segment of the video, stating,
“I guess during the end of it, there was some kind of picture people don’t like. I wouldn’t like it either, but I didn’t see it. I just, I looked at the first part, and it was really about voter fraud.”
When questioned about an apology, Trump reportedly replied, “No, I didn’t make a mistake. I mean…I look at a lot of, thousands of things, and I looked at the beginning of it. It was fine.”
He further clarified that he condemns the racist section of the video, responding, “Of course I do.”
