Black Stars Coach Carlos Queiroz Names Ghana’s Squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup
Carlos Queiroz has unveiled Ghana's 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, selecting a blend of experienced internationals and emerging talents for the tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The goalkeeping department features Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang, while Solomon Agbesi will travel with the team as an additional squad member to provide cover.
Ghana's defensive line includes Baba Abdul Rahman, Gideon Mensah, Marvin Senaya, Alidu Seidu, Abdul Mumin, Jerome Opoku, Jonas Adjetey, Kojo Oppong Peprah and Derrick Luckassen. Luckassen replaces the injured Alexander Djiku, who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury. The full squad announcement also confirms that Djiku is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks.
The midfield will be led by Thomas Partey alongside Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo, Augustine Boakye, Caleb Yirenkyi, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Kamaldeen Sulemana, giving the Black Stars a balanced mix of experience and youthful energy.
In attack, Queiroz has selected Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Antoine Semenyo, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Prince Kwabena Adu, Iñaki Williams and captain Jordan Ayew, providing Ghana with several options across the frontline.
A number of players are set to make their FIFA World Cup debut, including Jerome Opoku, Abdul Mumin, Benjamin Asare, Joseph Anang, Kwasi Sibo, Augustine Boakye, Caleb Yirenkyi, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Prince Kwabena Adu.
Before departing for North America, the Black Stars will face Wales in a preparatory friendly before travelling to Washington to complete their final training camp. Ghana will open its Group L campaign against Panama on June 17 before taking on England and Croatia in their remaining group-stage fixtures.
With a squad combining established stars and exciting newcomers, Ghana will be aiming to make a deep run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the Black Stars seek to build on their proud history on football's biggest stage.
