Ghana's Street Academy Brightens Lives with Joyful Easter Picnic for Children
The Street Academy recently hosted its annual Easter celebration, an event designed to bring joy and a sense of community to hundreds of unfortunate children. This yearly occasion is a cornerstone activity for the sports and culture organization, aimed at ensuring that these children, who might otherwise be overlooked, feel cherished and included during the festive season.
As customary, the event drew a large gathering of children from both the academy itself and surrounding communities. The atmosphere was vibrant with excitement and anticipation as the children arrived in significant numbers throughout the day. They were meticulously organized into groups, where they were served delicious meals in an orderly fashion before engaging in a variety of fun activities.
The inclusivity of the event was particularly noteworthy, with the palpable spirit of generosity and togetherness truly embodying the essence of Easter. Dr. Ataa Lartey, the Executive Director of the Street Academy, highlighted the importance of this annual tradition when speaking to the media. He explained that many of these children, through no fault of their own, lack parents to provide food, clothing, or shelter, often making the streets their only home, and would otherwise miss out on such celebrations.
Dr. Lartey further elaborated on the academy's broader mission, stating, "Through such events, we interact with them, get them into the academy and offer formal education to the brilliant ones and provide training in sports, culture and other skills to become responsible people in future." He concluded by reiterating a heartfelt appeal to public-spirited individuals and corporate entities to continue their vital support for the academy, enabling it to sustain its efforts in assisting these vulnerable children.
