Ghana Premier League Frenzy! Battle for Dominance in 2025/26 Season

Matchday 10 of the Ghana Premier League delivered a series of intense encounters, leading to significant shifts in the league standings. While some teams secured crucial victories, others fought to maintain their positions, with notable results impacting the top of the table.
One of the most anticipated fixtures saw Asante Kotoko, who entered the round as the only unbeaten side in Ghana’s top-flight, face Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium. The match started poorly for the Porcupines, with Aduana breaking the deadlock in just the fifth minute. Emmanuel Marfo capitalized on a rebound after Seidu Saana's powerful shot was parried by Kotoko goalkeeper Aziz Dari. Aduana continued to press, with Dari making a crucial save from Mizack Afriyie's header in the 19th minute, and Saana narrowly missing a second goal from distance. Marfo also squandered another opportunity following defensive miscommunication.
Asante Kotoko found their rhythm only after the tactical substitution of Samuel Tenadu for Baba Yahaya in the 39th minute, which injected much-needed creativity into their midfield. Their efforts paid off just two minutes before halftime when defender Lord Amoah scored a deflected effort, leveling the score at 1-1. The second half was an open, end-to-end affair, with both teams chasing a winner, but neither Morifing Donzo nor Hilary Adabo could secure victory for the hosts. Following back-to-back draws, Asante Kotoko now sits sixth with 16 points and will seek to regain their winning momentum against Young Apostles on November 19. Aduana FC, despite the draw, dropped to third place with 20 points after victories by Medeama and Heart of Lions, and is set to host Berekum Chelsea on November 23.
Meanwhile, Bibiani GoldStars successfully returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Karela United at Dun’s Park. The decisive moment came in the 38th minute when Burkinabe forward Razack Sanou scored his first goal for the team, a crucial boost after an inconsistent start to their season. GoldStars largely dominated the first half, securing their lead. In the second half, Karela United pushed for an equalizer, but the ‘Gye Nyame’ lads maintained a disciplined defensive shape, effectively managing the game to secure all three points. This victory propels Bibiani GoldStars to seventh place with 16 points after nine matches, keeping them within contention of the league's leading pack. Karela United, on the other hand, remains in ninth position with 11 points, facing a challenging bounce-back fixture against Basake Holy Stars in Tamale, while GoldStars prepare for an away game against Nations FC.
Further impacting the league table, Heart of Lions achieved a significant 2-0 home victory against Young Apostles on Sunday, November 16, moving them level on points with Medeama at the top. The Kpando-based team, unbeaten in their previous three games, started strong, with Michael Ephson opening the scoring in the 12th minute. Bashir Hayford’s side maintained their dominance into the second half, creating numerous chances and eventually doubling their lead in the 72nd minute through an own goal forced from the Young Apostles defense. This crucial win sees Heart of Lions ascend to second place in the league standings, now sharing the top spot with Medeama and showcasing their strong form in the current campaign.
