Gaming CEO Stuns Industry: AI Is Now Ubiquitous in Game Development

The recent launch of Arc Raiders, an extraction shooter developed by Embark Studios, has ignited considerable debate across social media platforms. Central to this controversy is the game's utilization of AI voice generation, a practice that has drawn both scrutiny and discussion within the gaming community.
The conversation has escalated beyond social media, with prominent figures in the games industry now weighing in. Junghun Lee, CEO of Nexon, the publisher of Arc Raiders, has publicly defended the game's use of artificial intelligence. In a recent interview with Game*Spark, which was subsequently translated by Automaton, Lee asserted the view that "it’s important to assume every game company is now using AI," suggesting that AI integration is becoming a standard practice across the industry.
This is not the first instance of Embark Studios incorporating AI text-to-speech systems into their games. Their previous title, The Finals, also featured an AI announcer, indicating a consistent approach by the developer in leveraging AI technologies within their productions.
