Genesis is poised to redefine luxury electric SUVs with the unveiling of the 2027 Genesis GV90, a flagship vehicle designed to challenge established luxury brands like Cadillac, Range Rover, and even Rolls-Royce. This new EV SUV combines bleeding-edge electric vehicle technology with old-school opulence, bringing concept-car features into reality for a broader luxury market.

The GV90 is powered by a robust 657-horsepower electric powertrain, offering an impressive range of over 310 miles. Its exterior design is clean, unique, and uncluttered, with a body structure extensively made of aluminum and steel reinforcements around the battery pack to manage curb weight. The vehicle will be available in two distinct versions: the standard GV90 and the ultra-luxurious GV90 Neolun.

A standout feature, particularly for the range-topping GV90 Neolun, is the return of pillarless coach doors. This design, last seen on new cars in the mid-1960s, blends normal front-opening doors with independent rear-opening doors, eliminating the traditional B-pillar for an elegant, open feel. Genesis has innovated a "hidden B-pillar" within the doors, along with structural reinforcements and a novel "dual-motion hinge." This hinge allows the rear door to first pop out, then rotate outward and open via an electric motor, ensuring both classic elegance and 21st-century crash safety. High-strength steel beams in the doors and a thick "roll cage" integrated into the frame, coupled with an advanced airbag system including a roof airbag, contribute to its safety, matching conventional vehicles. The standard GV90, in contrast, features traditional front and rear doors.

The interior of the GV90 is a testament to luxury and innovation. Multiple seating options are available. The standard GV90 offers three rows for up to seven passengers, with an optional six-seat configuration featuring captain's chairs or executive-style seats. The GV90 Neolun elevates this with an "executive suite," providing four reclining seats, which can rotate 180 degrees to face the rears when parked. This version also includes an integrated executive-style second-row console, a refrigerator, and pop-out tables, all designed for both work and leisure. Further enhancing its lavish cabin, the Neolun boasts a heated wood-veneer floor. Both models share a sophisticated aesthetic, featuring an alluring mixture of colors like forest greens and royal purples, textures such as wool and cashmere, and materials ranging from traditional wood to stone. The thronelike seats are finished in quilted and tufted leather, each equipped with 15 individual air cells for extensive adjustability and massaging capabilities.

Technologically, the GV90 is equally advanced. It debuts Hyundai's new Pleos Connect infotainment software in North America. The large infotainment screen measures 23.6 inches in drive mode and can expand to a 24.6-inch display when parked, ideal for watching content through the 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Dolby Atmos-capable audio system. Running on Android's automotive operating system, Pleos Connect offers a wide range of software-defined vehicle functions, customizability, an app store, and its own AI agent, Gleo AI. The system also supports a 25.5-inch head-up display with augmented reality functionality, turning the driver's half of the screen into a digital dashboard. A traditional center console features the rotating crystal drive selector familiar from other Genesis models.
