Legendary Triumph: Sir Kevin Sinfield's Epic Charity Feat Culminates in Son's Super League Glory!

Rugby legend Sir Kevin Sinfield, the esteemed former Leeds Rhinos star from Oldham, successfully concluded his latest and seventh ultra-running charity challenge, titled "7 in 7: The Grand Finale." This monumental effort saw him run an ultramarathon every day since September 27, visiting the home grounds of all 12 English Betfred Super League clubs. The challenge culminated with his arrival at a sold-out Old Trafford from St Helens, where he brought the Super League trophy. This final challenge alone added well over £1 million to his ongoing fundraising total for motor neurone disease (MND) charities. The number seven is a poignant tribute to his late Leeds Rhinos teammate, Rob Burrow CBE, who wore the number 7 jersey and tragically passed away from MND in 2024 after living with the disease for over four years.

The emotional culmination of Sinfield's challenge was further highlighted when his son, Jack, played a part in Wakefield's victory against Warrington Wolves in tonight's Super League final, scoring a crucial drop goal in their 23-10 win. Sir Kevin, a seven-time winner of the prestigious trophy as a player, expressed his gratitude, stating: “It’s great to be back. Thank you to everybody who’s played a part this week. The rugby league community has got right behind the MND community and Rob (Burrow) would be so proud to see how you’ve shown love and cared for a community that really needs us.”

Inspired by Rob Burrow's battle with MND, Sinfield and his dedicated team have collectively raised more than £11 million for the MND community since initiating these events in 2020. Several vital charities have benefited from these extensive fundraising efforts, including the Motor Neurone Disease Association, Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, MND Scotland, Leeds Hospitals Charity, and The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. In recognition of his immense contributions to rugby league, rugby union, and the motor neurone disease community, Sir Kevin Sinfield was knighted in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours.
