From Game to Giant Screen: Alex Garland's 'Elden Ring' Movie Reveals All-Star Cast, Epic 2028 IMAX Date!

Alex Garland's highly anticipated live-action film adaptation of the acclaimed fantasy video game "Elden Ring" is officially in production and set for an IMAX release on March 3, 2028.

This cinematic venture is a collaboration between A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment, bringing one of the most critically lauded video games to the big screen.

The film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, with Kit Connor, known for "Heartstopper," is confirmed to reunite with Garland, following earlier rumors.

He is joined by a formidable lineup of talent including Ben Whishaw from "Black Doves,"Cailee Spaeny, a frequent Garland collaborator seen in "Civil War," and Tom Burke from "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga."

Additional cast members includeHavana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno (another Garland collaborator from "Ex Machina"), Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird, and Peter Serafinowicz.

Behind the scenes, the production is spearheaded by a strong team of producers, as Peter Rice is set to produce alongside with Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA.

Notably, George R. R. Martin, who contributed to the original game's mythological story, will also serve as a producer, alongside Vince Gerardis.

The source material, "Elden Ring," is a dark fantasy-action RPG that debuted in 2022.

It’s going to be developed under the direction of FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki, with its rich lore created by Martin, the game has achieved immense success, selling over 30 million copies worldwide and garnering more than 400 Game of the Year awards.

Alex Garland himself is a long-time admirer of the game, having made a personal pitch to its publishers, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware, to secure the rights for this adaptation.
