Freed Felon Back Behind Bars: Delta Ex-Convict Snared in Motorcycle Heist Days After Release!

The Delta Police Command has announced the re-arrest of an ex-convict, Precious Okoro, just five days after his release from prison, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle. SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, August 18, 2025. The suspect was apprehended when a patrol team from the Eagle-Net Special Squad responded to a report of a stolen motorcycle.
According to Edafe, Precious Okoro, a 27-year-old male from ULO Street, Asaba, had been released from the Ogwashi-Ukwu Correctional Facility on August 6, 2025. He had served a two-year jail term for a similar offense of stealing a motorcycle. Despite completing his sentence, Okoro allegedly returned to criminal activities almost immediately upon his release.
The incident leading to his re-arrest occurred on August 11, 2025, at approximately 3:30 PM. The Eagle-Net Special Squad, while on visibility patrol in Asaba, received a distressed call regarding a missing motorcycle. In a collaborative effort with members of the Nigeria Hunters Security Services (NFSS), the team successfully arrested Precious Okoro and another individual identified as Buhari Deyegu, an 18-year-old male from Ibusa Road, Asaba. The stolen motorcycle was subsequently recovered.
Further investigation led to a search warrant being executed at Precious Okoro's residence. During the search, authorities recovered additional items, including a Tiger Generator, a large fireman generator, and an iron measuring scale. The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue. One report indicated that during interrogation, Okoro claimed he was lured into re-committing the crime, highlighting the challenge of recidivism.
