Ford Unleashes Ultimate Off-Road Beast: Bronco Filson Edition Confirmed!

Ford is set to introduce a factory-backed off-road SUV, the Ford Bronco Filson Edition, a collaboration with Seattle-based outdoor outfitter Filson.
This new vehicle draws inspiration from the striking Wildland Fire Rig concept, which was first showcased in 2020 and envisioned an off-road Bronco equipped for the United States Forest Service.
The highly anticipated debut of the Bronco Filson Edition is scheduled for June 3 in the Pacific Northwest, where detailed specifications will be revealed.
Given that Ford has already provided a QR code for prospective buyers to register their interest, it is anticipated that sales will commence soon, likely as a part of the 2027 Bronco lineup.
Following the lead of the original concept, the Filson Edition is expected to be based on a four-door Bronco Badlands model.
It will likely come equipped with the robust off-road Sasquatch package, featuring aggressive 35-inch tires, a Ford Performance steel bumper, and a Warn winch for enhanced recovery capabilities.
Further exterior enhancements from the concept include a custom roof rack fitted with LED light bars, and it will sport the distinctive Forest Service green paint.
While the concept included a 50-gallon water tank for firefighting, this specific feature will not be present in the civilian production models.
Under the hood, the vehicle is expected to be powered by Ford’s reliable 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, the Filson Edition will emphasize durability and premium utility, with features such as durable duck canvas gracing the door handles, armrests, and seat trim. The interior will also prominently display the iconic Filson logo, reinforcing the partnership.
The Ford Bronco Filson four-door SUV is not a limited edition offering; rather, it is designed to be a full and permanent member of the Bronco family.
This initiative is part of Ford's broader strategy to expand the Bronco brand with various derivatives and introduce a more premium element that customers have been seeking.
According to Dave Rivers, head of Ford Enthusiast Brands, the goal is to offer a premium truck that can withstand rugged use and still be easily cleaned up, much like a durable Filson jacket.
This collaboration with Filson is historically resonant, as Ford Broncos were commonly utilized by rangers in the 1960s and 1970s, with Filson often providing their essential gear.

Filson itself boasts a rich history dating back to 1897, when it supplied clothing to prospectors during the Alaskan gold rush, making this partnership a logical convergence of utility vehicle and outdoor outfitter for those who work and play in demanding environments.
In addition to the Filson Edition, the Bronco family is also growing with other factory-backed derivatives.
One notable example is the 2027 Ford Bronco RTR, a performance-oriented version designed to slot just below the range-topping Bronco Raptor.
Previously, Mustang drift king Vaughn Gittin Jr. would build his Bronco RTRs through an upfitter facility.
However, the 2027 model will now be manufactured directly at Ford's Michigan Assembly Plant, rolling off the same production line as the rest of the Bronco family, including the new Filson Edition.
Orders for the Bronco RTR are slated to open in the fall, with deliveries commencing in January 2027. The Filson Edition is expected to follow a similar production and delivery timeline.
