Forceful Protest: Rey Cosplayer Demands Adam Driver's Ben Solo Movie Outside Disney Studios

A growing fan-led movement to revive the canceled Star Wars spinoff, “The Hunt for Ben Solo,” has taken an unexpected turn. In a striking act of dedication, a cosplayer known online as @reychelofjakku staged a solo protest outside Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California. Dressed as Rey from the sequel trilogy, she stood under the afternoon sun holding a handmade sign reading, “WHERE’S BEN SOLO?” The moment quickly went viral, reigniting debate about Disney’s decision to shelve the project.
Originally slated to reunite Adam Driver, who portrayed Ben Solo, with acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh, the canceled film was expected to explore the former Jedi’s redemption journey following the events of The Rise of Skywalker. The story promised to delve into survival, guilt, and renewal — themes long cherished by the Star Wars fanbase. Screenwriter Scott Z. Burns, who previously worked with Driver on The Report, was attached to pen the script before Disney abruptly halted development. The project’s cancellation left fans deeply disappointed, viewing it as a missed opportunity to close one of the franchise’s most emotionally resonant arcs.
Momentum for the film’s revival surged last month when Adam Driver confirmed in an interview that The Hunt for Ben Solo had been “actively in development” before being shelved. Fans have since reframed their campaign as a call for artistic justice, invoking comparisons to the “Coyote vs. Acme” controversy — where fan outrage forced Warner Bros. to reverse course on another canceled film. Supporters argue that Ben Solo’s return would embody Star Wars’ enduring values of hope, redemption, and accountability.
Rachel’s demonstration is only the latest in a wave of coordinated fan efforts aimed at capturing Disney’s attention. Earlier protests saw hundreds of supporters gather outside the company’s New York headquarters, chanting “For the Skywalkers!” and waving banners emblazoned with “SAVE THE HUNT FOR BEN SOLO.” One fan organizer, Lauren, told reporters that “death robs redemption of accountability,” calling for Disney to restore Ben Solo’s narrative arc. Other fan actions have included a rented plane flying over the California studio lot and a massive digital billboard in Times Square, all broadcasting the same impassioned plea: bring back Ben Solo.
With Rachel’s lone protest now circulating widely across social media, the campaign’s message has achieved new momentum — amplifying fans’ collective demand for closure and compassion in one of the galaxy’s most divisive stories. Whether Disney responds remains to be seen, but the Force of fandom appears stronger than ever.
