Foo Fighters Frontman Dave Grohl Fuming Over 'Wicked' Film Forcing Album Title Change!

Dave Grohl, the acclaimed singer and guitarist for the Foo Fighters, recently shared an intriguing anecdote about the naming of his band's newly released 12th studio album, "Your Favorite Toy." Despite seemingly having nothing in common with the character Elphaba from the "Wicked" universe, Grohl revealed that the album's title nearly intersected with the popular movie franchise.
In an interview with Radio X's John Kennedy on Friday (May 1), Grohl explained that he was compelled to abandon his initial choice for the LP's title due to its conflict with the billion-dollar "Wicked" film series, which stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Grohl originally intended to title the record "For Good," a phrase derived from the lyrics of the album's raging single, also initially called "For Good." The line, "Get back, hear that boy? Someone threw away/ Your favorite toy for good," resonated with him, suggesting multiple meanings for both the song and the album title.
However, his plans were thwarted when "Wicked: For Good" was announced as the title for the second chapter in director Jon M. Chu's blockbuster adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical. The film, which premiered in November and grossed over $342 million at the box office, made Grohl's original album title untenable. Recognizing the potential for confusion and conflict with such a prominent movie, Grohl wisely changed the title of the song to "Your Favorite Toy," which subsequently became the title for the entire album.
The Foo Fighters officially released "Your Favorite Toy" on April 24 and are set to perform songs from the new collection on Friday (May 8) at the Welcome to Rockville Festival in Daytona Beach, Fla.
