Fintech Giants Gr4vy and Unlimit Forge Alliance, Expanding Global Payment Horizons!

Gr4vy, a cloud payment orchestration platform based in the US, has announced a significant partnership with Unlimit, a global financial infrastructure company, to expand the array of locally preferred payment methods available to Gr4vy’s enterprise merchant customers. This strategic arrangement, announced on October 8, 2026, leverages Gr4vy’s existing single integration layer, providing a streamlined solution for international commerce.

The core commercial rationale behind this collaboration addresses a critical challenge faced by enterprise merchants expanding into global markets: the highly fragmented payment landscape. Across different regions, consumer preferences, local currencies, and specific processing requirements vary significantly, making it costly and time-consuming for businesses to build and maintain dedicated technical integrations for each new market. By integrating with Unlimit’s extensive acquiring and local payment network, Gr4vy customers can now access a broad spectrum of payment options without the need to modify their existing technological infrastructure.

The partnership brings a comprehensive range of payment methods into scope, catering to diverse global markets. In Latin America, merchants will gain access to popular options such as Pix and PicPay in Brazil, OXXO and Efectivo for cash-based transactions prevalent in Mexico and other regions, and the widespread Mercado Pago wallet network. For the African continent, the integration will cover M-Pesa, a dominant mobile money platform across Kenya and several other sub-Saharan markets, alongside Airtel Money. In the Asia-Pacific region, key inclusions are WeChat Pay for China, GrabPay for South-East Asia, and UPI for India, addressing significant digital payment ecosystems. European offerings are rounded out with MB WAY for Portugal and SEPA Instant.

John Lunn, founder and chief executive of Gr4vy, emphasized the partnership's value, stating that it offers customers "the flexibility to add the local payment methods they need as they expand internationally, without rebuilding their financial stack." Complementing this, Irene Skrynova, chief executive of global payments at Unlimit, underscored that payments are "fundamentally local," highlighting the inherent complexity that varying customer preferences, currencies, and processing requirements introduce for businesses pursuing international expansion.

This collaboration arrives at a time when payment orchestration has rapidly matured as a category. Gr4vy operates in a competitive segment featuring numerous well-funded European and US-based rivals. While the core proposition of a single integration routing transactions across multiple payment service providers and methods remains central, the competitive differentiator has increasingly shifted. The orchestration layer itself is becoming commoditized, leading to a greater emphasis on the depth and geographic spread of the underlying payment method coverage. On this crucial metric, the Unlimit partnership significantly enhances Gr4vy's offering, given Unlimit’s network reportedly spans over 180 countries and holds licenses in 97 jurisdictions, establishing it as one of the most geographically extensive independent payment networks available.

Certain payment methods included in the deal hold particular strategic importance. Pix, Brazil’s central bank-operated instant payment scheme, recorded over 60 billion transactions in 2024 and is now considered essential for any serious e-commerce presence in Latin America. Regulatory considerations are also pertinent; UPI’s cross-border expansion is subject to agreements between the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and host-country regulators. Furthermore, SEPA Instant is entering a mandatory phase for eurozone payment service providers under the EU’s updated instant payments regulation, which is expected to drive increased demand from European-facing merchants irrespective of competitive pressures. For Gr4vy, facilitating local-method access through a licensed counterparty like Unlimit also serves to reduce the direct regulatory burden on its own orchestration layer.

While the partnership’s commercial terms, specific transaction volume targets, or new named launch customers (beyond Unlimit’s existing clients like Xiaomi, Telegram, and Convera) have not been disclosed, the immediate objective is clear. The near-term success of this combined offering will be measured by its ability to accelerate merchant onboarding into critical growth markets such as Brazil and India, where the adoption of local payment methods has historically represented a significant friction point for international entrants.
