Explosive Corruption Probe Rocks Tinubu-Linked Alpha-Beta: Bribery and Tax Evasion Allegations Surface

Alpha-Beta Consulting Limited, a revenue consulting firm reportedly connected to President Bola Tinubu, is facing serious allegations from former employee Segun Oluwasanmi. Claims include systematic tax evasion, bribery, professional misconduct, and workplace harassment, which have been escalated to Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies—the EFCC and ICPC—as well as the Nigeria Police. Copies were also sent to the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Lagos State Ministry of Finance.

Oluwasanmi, who worked at Alpha-Beta from September 2018 to January 7, 2025, alleges that the company routinely under-declared staff salaries to evade taxes. He claims salaries were split into two parts, with only a fraction declared and taxed. Internal memos, including one dated April 30, 2024, from Head of Human Capital Management Anjolaoluwa Grace Ige, reportedly confirmed that a Lagos State Internal Revenue Service audit uncovered under-remittance. While adjustments were made for declared portions, the undeclared salaries were allegedly labeled "reimbursable" to conceal their true nature, adversely affecting employees’ future employment prospects. Oluwasanmi also claims the firm mishandled pension contributions, deducting both employee and employer shares until 2022 without proper remittance.

Additionally, Oluwasanmi accused Anjola Ige-Amusan, the company’s HR head, of soliciting bribes to process travel allowances. One instance reportedly involved a N150,000 bribe to process a refund of N3,310,912 for Kingsley Esonu, covering discrepancies in currency exchange and allowance calculations from a November 2023 international training program in Egypt. Oluwasanmi claims allowances were calculated at N1,000 to the dollar, despite the actual rate being N1,200–N1,300, and estacode payments were miscalculated, constituting bribery under Nigerian law.

Further allegations target Olumide Hezekiah Idowu, Alpha-Beta’s Chief Technical Officer, for allegedly forging Oluwasanmi’s signature on the firm’s Cybersecurity Policy in September 2023. Oluwasanmi claims he was excluded from the policy finalization, and the forged signature was discovered on September 13. An internal panel reportedly confirmed the forgery, but findings were never released. These actions are cited as violations of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 and the Criminal Code Act.

Oluwasanmi also alleges ongoing workplace harassment, intimidation, and obstruction by the Lagos Police in October 2025 when attempting to report misconduct. He claims Alpha-Beta deliberately implicated him in an unrelated case to silence his complaints. The CDHR, representing Oluwasanmi, has urged the EFCC, ICPC, and police to investigate thoroughly, enforce disciplinary action, and safeguard the complainant’s rights, warning that inaction would undermine corporate governance and integrity.
