Disney+ and The Pokémon Company International have solidified a significant global distribution deal, marking a new chapter for Pokémon content on the streaming platform. This expansive agreement kicked off with the recent debut of “Pokémon the Series: The Beginning” on Disney XD, which is now also available for streaming on Disney+ in the U.S. and select international markets. This initial launch sets the stage for a broader collaboration that aims to bring more of the beloved Pokémon world to Disney audiences worldwide.

A major highlight of this new partnership is the announcement of a brand-new stop-motion series, slated for a 2027 release. Titled “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu,” this innovative project hails from the critically acclaimed animation studio Aardman. The series is set to debut on Disney XD and will be exclusively available for streaming on Disney+, offering a fresh artistic take on the Pokémon universe through Aardman’s signature stop-motion artistry.

The upcoming series, “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu,” will follow its titular characters, Sirfetch’d and Pichu, as they embark on an epic and often unpredictable journey through the vibrant Galar Region. Their noble quest involves helping and protecting various Pokémon across the region. While their missions rarely unfold without a hitch, these shared experiences and challenges will inevitably forge a deep and enduring friendship between them, propelling them bravely into the unknown where they will encounter peril, form new alliances, face rivalries, discover extraordinary Pokémon, and experience endless laughs.

Behind the scenes of this eagerly anticipated Aardman production is a talented creative team. Tom Parkinson serves as the director, with Nat McKay overseeing as the creative director of IP development, and James Young leading the model making as the creative lead. The exciting news of this Pokémon-Disney distribution deal, including the details of the new series, was officially unveiled during a panel discussion at Pokémon XP. This fan event took place over three days at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, drawing enthusiasts from across the globe.

He lauded the incredible filmmakers at Aardman for making this even more thrilling. Rynda anticipates that audiences will be delighted by Sirfetch’d, Pichu, and the wonderful cast of Pokémon featured in the series, praising Aardman’s ability to bring the Galar Region to life in such an immersive way that viewers will feel as if they can truly experience its sights, sounds, and textures, inspiring a desire to adventure alongside the series’ heroes.
