This monumental success surpasses the previous record held by "Frozen 2," which earned $1.45 billion in 2019. The animated sequel has demonstrated remarkable performance both domestically and internationally, with $333 million generated from domestic ticket sales and a significant $1.13 billion from overseas markets.

The film's box office prowess was particularly evident during the Christmas holiday weekend, its fifth week in release, where it added an impressive $87.9 million to its already substantial earnings. "Zootopia 2" reached the coveted $1 billion milestone in an incredibly short span of just 17 days, making it the fastest PG-rated movie in history to achieve this feat. Its success story is amplified by its exceptional performance in China, a market where many Hollywood films have struggled in recent years. In China alone, "Zootopia 2" has soared past $500 million, marking it as the highest total for a U.S. movie by a considerable margin. This far outpaces other recent Disney releases in the region, such as "Avatar: Fire and Ash," which is nearing $100 million after its premiere on December 19.

Globally, "Zootopia 2" is one of only three movies this year to cross the $1 billion mark.
