Crushing Blow: Wizards' AJ Dybantsa Out for Season Opener with Ankle Injury!
Washington Wizards' No. 1 draft pick, AJ Dybantsa, will miss his regular-season debut against the Milwaukee Bucks due to a mild ankle sprain sustained in the preseason finale. The rookie is day-to-day, with his next potential game being Friday against the Toronto Raptors.
The Washington Wizards will unfortunately have to delay the regular-season debut of their No. 1 draft pick, AJ Dybantsa. Head coach Brian Keefe announced on Tuesday that Dybantsa will be sidelined for the team's season opener scheduled for Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks due to an ankle injury.
The injury, which coach Keefe had initially described as a mild ankle sprain on Friday, occurred during the team's preseason finale. Dybantsa sustained the injury in the second quarter after an awkward landing on his left ankle following a midrange jump shot. He was observed limping off the court and heading to the locker room. Before his early exit, Dybantsa had already made a notable contribution, scoring 12 points in just 15 minutes of play.
Dybantsa's status is currently day-to-day. His next potential chance to make his highly anticipated debut would be on Friday night, when the Wizards are slated to play at home against the Toronto Raptors. Following that home game, the team is set to begin a sequence of three consecutive road games, starting with a match in Chicago on Saturday.
