Cleric Chris Okafor Embroiled in Divorce & Fidelity Scandal, Issues Public Apology

Clergyman Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Grace Nation Church, publicly tendered an unreserved apology to actress Doris Ogala and any other woman he might have offended in the past. On December 28, Okafor went on bended knees before his congregation, acknowledging that "mistakes have been made in the past." However, he simultaneously stated that not everything said about him recently is true, claiming "there are so many lies in the things that were said." He expressed readiness to make restitution to anyone he might have offended, seeking forgiveness and stating, "I am not perfect. I have never been perfect. but I tell you I have a new beginning since the coming of these fathers of faith into my life."

Actress Doris Ogala, who had been vocal online about the pastor, reacted to his apology. While she accepted his apology and extended her forgiveness, she expressed concern regarding his assertion that "everything was a lie." Ogala had previously initiated online discussions, "dragging him online for a while now," primarily over his alleged failure to fulfill marriage plans with her. This online dispute intensified after pre-wedding photos of the clergyman with another woman surfaced. Doris had insisted that the wedding would not hold and was reportedly arrested over her repeated comments on the situation.

Pastor Okafor also used the opportunity to address aspects of his past, including his divorce and the custody of his children. He revealed that his divorce occurred when his children were very young, with his daughter Chidera being two and his son Bobo four years old at the time. The court granted him full custody, while their mother was given access. Okafor shared that he raised his children alone for over a decade; Bobo is now 17 and will turn 18 in March, while Chidera is 15. Following the divorce, he made a personal vow to his children not to remarry until they were grown, a promise he claims to have kept for 13 years, describing it as a difficult and challenging period.

Addressing the current controversy surrounding his remarriage, Pastor Okafor claimed that none of the allegations circulating today existed throughout those 13 years of single parenthood. He alleged that these accusations only began after he decided to embark on a new chapter in his life. He further claimed that his former wife had openly vowed to destroy him and his church, suggesting the entire situation is a coordinated attempt to damage his reputation. Pastor Okafor firmly denied all allegations involving his daughter, asserting that nothing inappropriate ever happened under his care. In an emotional moment, he reportedly called his children forward, who, when asked directly, denied any indecent actions from him, insisting the accusations were false. He shared that the ordeal has taken a heavy toll on him emotionally and mentally, describing the past years as extremely painful.

Adding to the public discourse, cleric and former singer Emmanuel Okose took to social media to challenge actress Doris Ogala regarding her online drama with Pastor Chris Okafor. Okose questioned Doris's motives, asking why she was "bashing" the clergyman and if she would react similarly if Pastor Okafor was not a popular public figure.
