Celebrity Showdown: May Edochie Sues Yinka Theisen for N500M in Cyberbullying Row

May Yul-Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has initiated significant legal action against Yinka Theisen, the former lover of Yul’s elder brother,Linc Edochie. This legal move comes in the form of a cease and desist letter, accusing Theisen of engaging in cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and defamation against May Edochie online.
The letter, issued by May Edochie's legal representatives, Graylaw Partners, explicitly details the allegations. It asserts that Yinka Theisen has made various posts on her social media platforms containing falsehoods that directly cyberstalk and cyberbully May.
These alleged posts are described as going beyond mere defamation, instead constituting ridicule, unwarranted and harmful behaviour, and a calculated assault on May Edochie's reputation. Furthermore, the legal notice claims that Theisen's actions have imperilled May's safety through malicious threats and demonstrably false allegations, which were made both by Theisen and at her behest.

The legal document also highlights an additional layer of harm, stating that Yinka Theisen’s posts actively instigated third parties to propagate these disturbing communications. This amplification of defamatory content, according to Graylaw Partners, has significantly worsened the emotional and reputational damage May Edochie has suffered, causing her severe and irreparable harm.
As part of the legal demands, May Edochie, through her lawyers, is requiring Yinka Theisen to immediately cease making any further harmful publications about her. She is also mandated to retract all existing defamatory posts, issue a public apology, and publish a comprehensive retraction across all platforms where the original claims were circulated. In addition to these retractions and apologies, May Edochie is seeking substantial financial compensation, demanding ₦500 million in damages for the harm caused by the alleged cyber harassment.
