Britney Breaks Silence! Pop Icon Addresses DUI Arrest for First Time

Pop superstar Britney Spears has publicly addressed her recent DUI arrest, taking to Instagram on Friday, March 27, to share a message of gratitude and family connection. This marked her first statement since the incident earlier in March. Spears posted a video clip of herself dancing in a mirror alongside her 19-year-old son, Jayden Federline, accompanied by text expressing thanks to her fans for their unwavering support. She wrote, "Thank you guys for all your support… spending time with family and friends is such a blessing. Stay kind !!!" The post, which had its comments disabled by Spears, quickly amassed nearly 200,000 likes.
In the Instagram clip, the five-time Billboard Hot 100-topping artist can be heard saying, "I’m composed, I’m being very composed," as she strikes various poses. Her son, Jayden, also makes an appearance, attempting a Michael Jackson impression by donning a white fedora. Spears followed up with a second post featuring similar footage with her son, reiterating her plea to "Stay kind" with a rose emoji in the caption.
The arrest occurred on March 4 in Ventura County, California, at approximately 9:28 p.m. PT, where Spears was taken into custody on suspicion of a DUI. She was booked by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and subsequently released from custody the following morning, around 6:07 a.m. PT on March 5.
Spears' representative issued a statement to Billboard regarding the incident, calling it "an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable." The representative affirmed Spears' intention to "take the right steps and comply with the law," expressing hope that this event could initiate a "long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life." The statement further conveyed the hope that Spears would "get the help and support she needs during this difficult time," adding that her sons and loved ones would be involved in devising "an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being."
This is not the first time Spears has encountered legal challenges. She previously turned herself in after a 2007 hit-and-run incident in Los Angeles, where she struck a parked car, though that case was ultimately dismissed. Billboard has reached out to Spears’ representative for additional comment on the recent events.
