Bauchi LG Polls: APM Sweeps All 20 Chairmanship Seats
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) achieved a landslide victory in Bauchi State's local government elections, securing all 20 chairmanship seats and 319 out of 323 councillorship positions. BASIEC Chairperson, Hon. Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar, declared the 20 APM candidates winners after the conclusion of voting, counting, collation and verification. The result represents a sweeping victory for the party across Bauchi State's 20 local government areas.
APM candidates recorded victories across the state, including Umar Mohammed Aliyu in Bauchi LGA with 125,170 votes, Bappah Aliyu Mohammed in Alkaleri with 107,482, and Abubakar Ibrahim Dembo in Toro with 109,999.
Other notable results included Ya'u Samaila Sade's 67,276 votes in Darazo, Yusuf Babayo Zaki's 65,626 in Katagum, and Ali Babayo's 54,423 in Gamawa. The party's dominance also extended to the councillorship elections, where APM candidates won 319 of the 323 ward seats contested.
The remaining four councillorship seats were shared among the SDP, NRM, ZLP and YPP, with each party winning one ward. BASIEC maintained that all successful candidates met the legal requirements and secured the highest valid votes in their respective constituencies, while thanking Governor Bala Mohammed for his support and congratulating the people and newly elected officials. The sweeping outcome places the APM in a dominant position across Bauchi's local government administration.
