Boxing Queen Claressa Shields Secures Massive $8M Deal, Primed for Early 2026 Return!
Undisputed heavyweight champion and five-division world champion, Claressa Shields, has officially signed a historic minimum guaranteed $8 million multifight partnership with her original promoter, Salita Promotions, and Wynn Records. This landmark deal comes after Shields, ranked as ESPN's No. 1 pound-for-pound women's boxer, had explored free agency following her undisputed heavyweight title defense against Lani Daniels in July.
Shields expressed her profound motivation behind the agreement, stating, "This deal represents more than just a contract, it's a statement. I've fought my entire career to prove that women's boxing deserves equal respect, equal pay, and equal opportunity. Partnering with Salita Promotions and Wynn Records gives me the platform to keep breaking barriers inside and outside the ring. Together, we're building something that's never been done before."
Dmitriy Salita, head of Salita Promotions, emphasized the broader vision of the partnership. "Claressa Shields is one of the greatest athletes of our generation. Her impact extends far beyond the sport, and this partnership reflects that power. Our goal is to blend boxing, culture, and music to elevate the sport and its athletes beyond the traditional sports pages. This partnership with Wynn will create unique opportunities for fighters and deliver fresh, engaging experiences for boxing fans. Together with Wynn Records, we're creating a blueprint for the future -- where promoters, athletes, and partners collaborate to achieve success that would not otherwise be possible."
Wynn Records, a music promotion agency that counts Shields' boyfriend Papoose among its artists, marks a significant new chapter by signing Shields as its first athlete. Ruben Branson, owner and CEO of Wynn Records, shared his enthusiasm: "Claressa's story, talent, and determination embody everything our brand stands for. We're proud to stand beside her as she continues to make history. Together, we're setting a new standard for what's possible in the sport."
Despite reportedly having multiple suitors during her brief free agency period, the 30-year-old Shields opted for loyalty and an innovative collaboration that promises to integrate boxing with broader cultural elements. While the exact number of fights in the deal has not been disclosed, Shields is expected to return to the ring in early 2026. Prior to this agreement, Shields had sought a high-profile fight with retired two-division champion Laila Ali, with a rumored offer of $15 million, but Ali ultimately declined the proposed bout.
