‘Sinners,’ ‘Zootopia 2,’ and ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Lead Big Wins at Lumiere Awards

The Advanced Imaging Society (AIS) celebrated the 16th annual Lumiere Awards, honoring outstanding creative and technical achievements that continue to push the boundaries of storytelling and cinematic technology.

The event recognized filmmakers, engineers, and innovators shaping the future of media and entertainment.

AIS President Jim Chabin praised the winners, stating that they represent the industry’s future through their ability to combine creative vision with technical excellence.

In the feature film categories, Sinners won Best Live Action Feature Film, with producer Sev Ohanian accepting the award.

The film’s sound team—Chris Welcker, Steve Boeddeker, and Benny Burtt—also won Best Audio. Zootopia 2 claimed Best Animated Feature, with director Byron Howard receiving the honor.

Meanwhile, KPop Demon Hunters earned two awards for Best Original Song and Best Musical Scene or Sequence for its song “Golden.”

Picturehouse’s The King of Color, directed by Patrick Creadon, won Best Documentary.

The film explores the life of Larry Herbert, inventor of the Pantone Matching System.

Wicked: For Good received Best Motion Picture – Musical, with director Jon M. Chu accepting the award.

Avatar: Fire and Ash won Best Theatrical Scene or Sequence for its Flux Devil fire tornado battle, recognized for its groundbreaking visual effects.

In television categories, Andor Season 2 won Best Episodic – Live Action, while Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man won Best Episodic – Animation. Apple TV’s Severance earned Best Audio – Episodic, and Stranger Things Season 5 won Best Use of High Dynamic Range – Episodic.

The film F1 won Best Use of High Dynamic Range – Feature Film.

Google received the Sir Charles Wheatstone Award for its innovations in AI, cloud technology, and production tools.

Production Technology Awards went to AMD, CoreWeave, Flawless, 6P Color, and DisneyResearch|Studios for their contributions to advancing media technology.

Special honors included the Governor’s Award for Cinema Excellence presented to VUE and CEO Tim Richards, the Distinguished Artist Award given to Ethan Hawke for his performance in Blue Moon, and the inaugural Judy Garland Legacy Award awarded to Jon M. Chu.

Joseph Kosinski and Jerry Bruckheimer also received the Harold Lloyd Award for their work on F1.

The Lumiere Awards continue to recognize excellence in storytelling and innovation, highlighting the creative and technological achievements driving the future of the entertainment industry.
