Blockbuster Alert: Spielberg's Highly-Anticipated Sequel Confirmed!

Steven Spielberg is generating buzz with his upcoming UFO movie, "Disclosure Day," set to premiere on June 12. This highly anticipated, star-studded blockbuster marks Spielberg's return to the science fiction genre and features an ensemble cast including Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Eve Hewson, Colin Firth, and Colman Domingo. The film, a reunion with "Jurassic Park" writer David Koepp, is an original story, with details being kept under wraps as the release date approaches.

Amidst the excitement for Spielberg's new project, one of his more underrated films, "The Adventures of Tintin" (2011), is finally receiving attention for a long-awaited sequel. As Spielberg's only animated film, it stands as a cult favorite despite being overshadowed by his other acclaimed works. Based on Hergé's Belgian comics, the adventure follows young reporter Tintin, his dog Snowy, and Captain Haddock in their quest for the legendary Unicorn and its treasure. The film, starring Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis, was a box office success, grossing $374 million and earning strong critical reviews, yet a sequel has remained elusive for over a decade despite an ending that promised more adventures.

A deal had long been in place for producer Peter Jackson, known for "Lord of the Rings," to direct the sequel. However, various creative commitments and other projects kept Jackson busy, delaying the follow-up. Recently, at the Cannes Film Festival, where he received an honorary Palme d'Or, Jackson confirmed that writing for the next "Tintin" film is actively underway. He is collaborating with his longtime partner, Fran Walsh, on the script. Jackson expressed a sense of urgency, stating, "The deal was Steven directs one, and I direct another. So Stephen did his film, and then for 15 years, I haven't made my own. And I feel very, very awkward about it. Stephen's gracious enough not to sort of push me, but I know that I want to make it right, and so I've been working with Fran on another Tintin script."

Andy Serkis, who voiced Captain Haddock, previously shared his hope for a sequel and confirmed Jackson's strong desire to make it. Jackson's recent projects, such as the archival miniseries "The Beatles: Get Back" and co-writing the screenplay for Serkis' "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum," have occupied his time. Now, with inspiration striking and a clearer schedule, the time seems right for Jackson to re-enter the "Tintin" world and continue the adventures of Tintin, Snowy, and Haddock.
