Troops operating under Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully dismantled a suspected terrorist hideout and apprehended five individuals during a meticulously planned clearance operation in the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The intelligence-led mission, executed around 11:00 am on August 1, targeted various suspected criminal enclaves across communities including Atombagen, Chito, Tse Kighr, Tse Anaka, and Sabongida Leke.
Security sources, including reports from security analyst Zagazola Makama, confirmed that while a significant number of suspected terrorists fled before the arrival of the troops, security operatives managed to arrest five persons at Sabongida Leke. These individuals are currently under investigation for their alleged involvement in criminal activities within the region.
During the operation, the troops systematically destroyed the suspected terrorist camp. This included the demolition of several structures that were believed to have served as critical operational and logistics bases, as well as "life-support structures" for the criminal elements.
