The automotive world is bracing for what is being dubbed "The Final Stick-Shift Showdown," a pivotal comparison test between the 2027 Nissan Z NISMO and the 2026 Toyota Supra Final Edition. This high-stakes encounter marks the last opportunity for the Nissan Z to challenge its long-standing rival, the MkV Toyota Supra, before its production concludes. In two previous comparisons, the Supra emerged victorious, leaving enthusiasts eager to see if the track-tuned Z NISMO can finally secure a win and establish itself as the superior sports car of this generation.

Toyota's approach for the Supra Final Edition, while less extensive than Nissan's, focuses on refining an already successful platform. The car retains its potent turbocharged 3.0-liter I-6 engine, delivering 382 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque, coupled with the familiar six-speed manual transmission. However, significant chassis enhancements include updated suspension dampers, adjusted camber at both axles, stiffer bushings and mounts to reinforce the body structure, and new bracing and stabilizers for increased rigidity. Software updates for the rear differential improve traction, and the electric power steering has been retuned for a more direct feel. Braking performance is also bolstered with enlarged Brembo rotors.

Visually, the Supra Final Edition is distinctive, featuring matte black 19-inch wheels and subtle aerodynamic modifications. The GT4 style package, present on the test vehicle, adds red mirror caps, a matte black rear emblem, a matte-finished carbon-fiber spoiler, and a prominent GR decal on the rocker panel, all complemented by matte black or white paint. Nissan's efforts to elevate the Z NISMO are more comprehensive, building upon similar foundational upgrades seen in the Supra, such as tighter suspension, firmer bushings, lighter 19-inch wheels, and larger brakes. Crucially, the Z NISMO also receives a significant power boost. Its twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine now produces an impressive 420 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque, marking an increase of 20 hp and 34 lb-ft over the standard Z, and notably surpassing the Supra's output. Aerodynamic body elements, an enlarged grille, and a signature red stripe tracing the car’s base visually distinguish it from other Z variants. A highly anticipated addition for 2027 is the six-speed manual transmission, which was just introduced after the Z NISMO initially launched with only a nine-speed automatic, making this comparison a true "stick-shift showdown."
