Anthropic Strikes Gold: $200M LLM Partnership with Snowflake Shakes Cloud AI

AI research lab Anthropic is significantly expanding its footprint within the enterprise sector through a major strategic partnership with cloud data company Snowflake. The companies announced a substantial $200 million multi-year AI deal, which will see Anthropic’s advanced large language models (LLMs) integrated directly into Snowflake’s platform, thereby making them accessible to Snowflake’s extensive customer base.
Sridhar Ramaswamy, co-founder and CEO of Snowflake, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, referring to it as a "nine-figure alignment" that involves co-innovation at the product level and a proven history of joint execution for clients globally. He emphasized that the combined power of Anthropic's Claude models and Snowflake's platform is set to redefine how enterprises deploy scalable, context-aware AI solutions on top of their most critical business data.
This partnership is also framed as a joint go-to-market initiative, specifically aimed at delivering sophisticated AI agents to enterprise customers. A core component of the agreement is that Claude Sonnet 4.5 will power Snowflake Intelligence, which is Snowflake’s dedicated enterprise AI service. Furthermore, Snowflake customers will gain the capability to utilize various Claude models, including Claude Opus 4.5, for comprehensive multimodal data analysis and for building their own tailored custom AI agents.
Dario Amodei, co-founder and CEO of Anthropic, explained the strategic rationale behind the partnership. He noted that enterprises have dedicated years to constructing secure, trusted data environments and are now seeking AI solutions that can operate seamlessly within these environments without compromise. By embedding Claude directly into Snowflake, where this crucial enterprise data already resides, Amodei believes this collaboration represents a meaningful advancement in making frontier AI genuinely useful and practical for businesses.
The deal with Snowflake aligns with Anthropic’s broader and aggressive strategy to prioritize sales to businesses rather than individual users, a distinct approach compared to its primary rival, OpenAI, which has pursued a more consumer-centric growth trajectory. Anthropic has demonstrated significant momentum with this enterprise-focused strategy in recent months, securing several high-profile agreements.
Among its other notable partnerships, Anthropic signed a deal in October with Deloitte to bring its Claude chatbot to the consulting giant's vast employee base of over 500,000 staff. In the same week, Anthropic established a partnership with IBM to integrate some of its LLMs into IBM’s software products. This consistent success in the enterprise market is underpinned by strong and growing traction for Anthropic's models among businesses, further validated by a July survey from Menlo Ventures, which indicated that enterprises expressed a clear preference for Anthropic’s AI products over those from other AI companies.
