Akpabio's Fiery Slam: 'No Sane Human Defects to PDP!'

Senate President Godswill Akpabio recently asserted that no rational individual would consider defecting to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP). This declaration was made on Thursday during the screening process for Joash Amupitan, who was nominated as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Akpabio's remark stemmed from a disagreement with Senator Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West. Senator Dickson had initially pointed out that the results of the last presidential election in Ghana had not been contested. In response, Akpabio highlighted that former President Goodluck Jonathan also did not challenge the outcomes of the 2015 Nigerian presidential election, an election conducted by INEC, suggesting that the electoral body has consistently improved over the years.
However, Senator Dickson promptly reminded Akpabio that the 2015 election, which Akpabio referenced, was conducted under an administration led by the PDP. Reacting to this, Akpabio intensified his criticism of the PDP, stating that no sane person would now wish to join the party because it has been reduced to 'shreds'.
He further added that he would prefer not to provide any clues to the incoming INEC Chairman, implying that joining the PDP in its current state inevitably leads to legal disputes. Akpabio concluded by emphatically stating, “At that time, PDP was not turned into shreds, but there is no human being that is sane today that can even join such a platform.”
