AI Giant OpenAI Secures Historic $110 Billion Funding Round

OpenAI has officially announced a monumental private funding round, raising $110 billion, marking one of the largest in history. This massive investment propels OpenAI into a new era of global AI scaling, emphasizing the urgent need for expanded infrastructure to meet surging demand and deliver reliable AI products.
The round, with a pre-money valuation of $730 billion, includes significant contributions from technology giants: Amazon ($50B), Nvidia ($30B), and SoftBank ($30B). Some of these investments may come as services rather than cash, though exact allocations remain undisclosed.
Strategic Partnerships
Amazon: OpenAI will develop a stateful runtime environment for advanced models on Amazon Bedrock. This builds on their existing AWS partnership, adding $100 billion in compute services on top of a prior $38 billion commitment. OpenAI plans to consume at least 2GW of AWS Tranium compute and build models to support Amazon consumer products. Andy Jassy, Amazon CEO, emphasized this collaboration as transformative for AI applications.
Nvidia: OpenAI will use 3GW of dedicated inference capacity and 2GW of training on Vera Rubin systems, reinforcing Nvidia’s role in supporting OpenAI’s expanding infrastructure. Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO, reaffirmed the company’s commitment, highlighting OpenAI’s “incredible work.”
This round surpasses OpenAI's March 2025 record $40B funding round, reflecting the rapid acceleration of AI development and the capital intensity required to integrate AI into daily life at a global scale.
