Adom Kwahu Easter Festivities Ignite: Cooking Contest Crowned, Anticipation Builds for 2026

Momentum is rapidly building at Obomeng in the Eastern Region as the 2026 Adom Kwahu Easter festivities gain full force, drawing hundreds of excited revellers to the heart of this year’s grand celebration. Following a vibrant commencement, the atmosphere has significantly intensified, with patrons continuing to pour into the town in eager anticipation of an action-packed second day. The picturesque Kwahu ridge is once again a vibrant tapestry of colour, as both local residents and visitors immerse themselves in the festive spirit that has become a cherished hallmark of the annual Easter celebration.
To ensure maximum engagement and enjoyment for all patrons, organisers have meticulously lined up a diverse array of interactive and entertaining segments. A significant highlight and a major draw for the crowd was the highly anticipated all-male cooking competition. In this unique culinary showdown, Adom presenters boldly swapped their microphones for cooking pots, engaging in a fun yet competitive battle of skills and flavours.
The cooking contest, specifically the La Vonce All-Male Cooking Contest held at Adom Park in Obomeng, delivered on its promise of excitement. Esteemed Adom presenters were thoughtfully paired with local Kwahu personalities, forming dynamic teams. The judging panel meticulously assessed teams based on several crucial criteria: garnishing and presentation, taste, flavour, and the creative integration of La Vonce product lines into their dishes. The winning duo, comprised of Jerry Justice and Kwame Eugene, emerged triumphant, captivating the judges with their exceptional culinary creation. Their winning dish was a spicy, aromatic light soup, expertly prepared with La Vonce tomato mix, complemented by dried tilapia and mushrooms, and served alongside perfectly cooked plain rice. The judges were effusive in their praise, commending the dish for its bold and distinct flavours, its innovative twist on traditional cuisine, and its utterly flawless presentation, securing them the coveted top spot.
The competition also showcased other impressive culinary talents. Barrister Edmund Obeng Annor, who partnered with Maestro, secured a commendable second place with their delectable offering of rice and vegetable stew. Taking the third position were Eric Oware Agyapong (Alonso) and Kegewa, who presented a hearty and satisfying waakye and stew. Rounding off the contest in fourth place were Nana Kofi Onwona (Nkawkaw Sanaahene) and OPD, whose assorted beef jollof rice and stew delivered a visually appealing and delicious dish. Throughout the entirety of the event, the enthusiastic crowd was thoroughly entertained, cheering on each team as the kitchen buzzed with laughter, lively banter, and a palpable sense of culinary creativity.
Beyond the culinary delights, patrons were also treated to the vibrant Goodies Shito activation, which featured an energetic mix of dance contests and spirited soccer games, injecting a playful and dynamic twist into the day’s activities. For enthusiasts of lyrical prowess and wordplay, the Kasahari rap battle was a key event, bringing together emerging talents eager to showcase their skills in a competitive verbal duel. Adding another layer of excitement was the Lavonce Tomato Mic “flip-the-bottle” challenge, an innovative crowd-puller designed to test participants' skill and precision, fostering engaging audience interaction. To culminate the day's experiences, the Akwaaba Bash was set to usher revellers into the night, promising high-energy music and captivating performances, thereby setting the perfect tone for a truly fun-packed Easter celebration. With anticipation at its peak and an incredibly diverse lineup of activities, day two of the 2026 Adom Kwahu Easter festivities unequivocally promised to deliver an unforgettable experience for all patrons gathered at Obomeng.
