Abby Elliott Shares Emotional Finale Insights on 'All Her Fault'

Abby Elliott has showcased her dramatic versatility in the new crime-mystery series All Her Fault, following her acclaimed role as Sugar in The Bear. Known for her comedic work on Saturday Night Live, Elliott demonstrates her range by embracing a more serious and emotionally complex character.
All Her Fault follows the harrowing abduction of young Milo, starring Sarah Snook and Jake Lacy as his parents. Elliott plays Lia, a recovering wild child grappling with guilt from a childhood tragedy. Over the series’ twist-filled eight episodes, Lia’s understanding of herself and her past is profoundly challenged.
Reflecting on her role, Elliott revealed that Episode 5 was pivotal, forcing her character to evolve dramatically. She described navigating Lia's transformation alongside Daniel Monks and Jake Lacy as both nerve-wracking and rewarding, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in portraying complex familial dynamics.
When comparing her two major projects, Elliott humorously noted that the Irvines in All Her Fault are even more dysfunctional than the Berzattos from The Bear. She highlighted moments of redemption in the latter as a key differentiator, adding depth to her perspective on family dramas.
A standout moment occurs in the series finale, when Lia subtly implicates Marissa regarding Peter’s death. Elliott described this scene as a deeply "cathartic" moment for Lia, representing a mix of passivity and empowerment that allows her character to achieve a sense of redemption.
Looking ahead, Elliott envisions Lia maintaining her familial role while potentially building a friendship with Marissa. She fondly reflected on her chemistry with Jay Ellis, who plays Colin, acknowledging the “gaslighting” Lia experienced but expressing hope for a spin-off exploring their dynamic further.
Regarding The Bear Season 5, Elliott admitted she has no current insight into Sugar’s storyline, emphasizing her excitement and wish for what’s best for her character. She considers Episode 5’s reveal in All Her Fault a gift, allowing her to explore uncharted emotional territory as an actor.
All Her Fault is currently available for streaming on Peacock.
