A new podcast, "Look Thru My Eyes: Becoming DMX," is set to delve into the intricate life story of the legendary rapper DMX. Produced by 50 Cent’s G-Unit Audio in collaboration with iHeartRadio Podcasts, the series will be hosted by fellow Yonkers native and acclaimed rapper Jadakiss. The podcast is slated for release later this year and aims to offer a comprehensive look at DMX’s journey.

50 Cent emphasized the profound nature of DMX’s narrative, stating, “DMX’s story is bigger than the music — it’s about survival, faith, pain, and purpose.” He further added that the podcast will provide listeners with an opportunity to understand DMX's origins before fame, told through the perspectives of those who were genuinely present in his life, shaping the legend he became. 50 Cent confirmed these plans via an Instagram post, teasing “More heat coming your way.”

The production team includes executive producers Bruce Miller and Justin Baez, both of whom have close ties to DMX’s family and were raised in the rapper’s hometown of Yonkers, New York. Miller highlighted the deep connection between DMX’s story and Yonkers, noting that his legacy is fundamental to hip-hop.

The fierce Yonkers native, whom former Def Jam president Lyor Cohen credited with saving the label, exploded onto the music scene as a major rap star just before the turn of the century, becoming synonymous with the Ruff Ryders movement.

DMX's life was marked by significant challenges, as he overcame homelessness and numerous obstacles to achieve rap superstardom. His distinctive rugged snarl became an integral part of hip-hop’s DNA. His career saw remarkable success, with his first five albums all topping the Billboard 200 charts.

A particularly scorching year for DMX was 1998, when he released two No. 1 albums: "It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot" and "Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood." In his later years, DMX continued to battle addiction, ultimately passing away at the age of 50 in April 2021 from a drug-induced heart attack.

“Look Thru My Eyes: Becoming DMX” is reportedly the inaugural project in a planned series of podcasts designed to explore the lives of various prominent music stars, offering fans and new listeners alike an intimate glimpse into the stories behind the legends.
