Zimbabwe's Winky D Sets Harare Ablaze: Tête-À-Tête Concert Sparks Frenzy
Excitement is building for Zimdancehall heavyweight Winky D's highly anticipated Tête-à-Tête concert, scheduled for Alex Sports Club in Harare on Saturday, 30 August 2025. Dubbed "Tete-a-Tete: The Ghetto Dialogue," the event promises an intimate conversation between Winky D and his dedicated fan base, engaging with themes that have long endeared him to his supporters.
Concert promoter Patson "Chipaz" Chimbodza has reported significant interest, with early-bird tickets for phase one, priced at US$15, already selling out at some outlets. Chimbodza advised fans to purchase tickets early, cautioning that prices for phase two (also initially US$15) might increase on the day of the show due to intense demand. He clarified that while all outlets received both phase one and phase two tickets, the limited phase one allocation was quickly exhausted.
Winky D, affectionately known as the "Gafa," has consistently served as a powerful voice for the socially marginalized. This concert is expected to see him engage intimately with his fans, tackling various social ills, a characteristic theme in his music. Fans are also in suspense regarding the potential release of a new album, following his critically acclaimed 2023 album, "Eureka Eureka," which was laden with social commentary and resonated deeply, albeit sometimes controversially, with social and political elites.
The concert, announced by Winky D himself on Facebook, promises a high-octane night of entertainment with a powerhouse lineup. Popular radio personality Kudzai Violet Gwara (KVG) and entertainer Merciless are set to host the event. A diverse mix of dancehall and hip-hop talent will support Winky D, including rising star Anisha Shonhiwa a.k.a Nisha Ts, known for her track "Admire Kadembo." Other billed performers include Bling 4 ("Mangwana Kunei"), Saintflow ("Ngolo Kante"), Killer T ("Kana Ndanyura"), Bazooker ("Umdala Wethu"), and Chillmaster ("Horror"). The DJ lineup features DJ Fitzroy, DJ Spice, and fan-favourite DJ Made Her Believe, with MC Baluti providing additional hype.
Winky D declared in his post that the event is "not just a concert, it's a cultural moment," promising an "epic" experience with this fire lineup. The Tête-à-Tête concert is set to be one of the standout musical events of the year, kicking off on the evening of August 30 at Alex Sports Club.
