Zari Hassan's Heartbreak: Celebrity Reveals Miscarriage Amidst Family Plans

Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan recently revealed a deeply personal struggle: she suffered a miscarriage earlier this year during her first pregnancy with her husband, Shakib Cham Lutaaya. This disclosure followed weeks of intense online speculation, ignited by viral photos of Zari that appeared to show a baby bump. While these images led many to assume she was expecting, Zari clarified that they were taken during a photoshoot, urging people to use common sense given her regular Snapchat posts.
Despite dismissing the pregnancy rumors as they pertained to the photos, Zari confirmed that she had indeed conceived earlier in the year, tragically losing the pregnancy at six weeks in May. She expressed her continued hope to try again soon, emphasizing her strong desire to have children with Shakib. Zari spoke fondly of her husband, describing him as her 'personal person' and 'go-to person,' someone who understands her in a way other men haven't, calling him 'a gift from God.'
Shakib Cham Lutaaya later corroborated his wife's account, opening up about the painful experience during a series of recent interviews. He confirmed the miscarriage in May, describing the loss as deeply painful and a subject he finds difficult to discuss publicly. Shakib stated that he was fully aware of the situation at the time but chose not to make a public statement out of respect for Zari, who had already spoken openly. He prefers to handle personal matters in silence, leaving further details to Zari if she wishes to share them.
Beyond the miscarriage, Shakib also addressed another long-standing public query: why he does not follow Zari on Instagram. In an interview on Monday, August 18, he confirmed that they have not followed each other for approximately a year. He explained that his decision was a reaction to Zari's initial action of unfollowing him, rather than a premeditated move, and that the couple has never had a formal discussion about the issue.
The couple, whose age-gap relationship has consistently been a subject of public scrutiny, frequently makes headlines across East Africa. Shakib’s recent media appearances have offered a rare glimpse into the unique challenges faced by the high-profile pair, including navigating personal grief and managing their public image on social media. Zari is already a mother of five children, with three from her late ex-partner Ivan Semwanga and two with Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz. Shakib has also previously shared that he has children from prior relationships.
